FAQs

Who do I contact for further information?
Merrick Moseley. Tel: +44 (0)20 7040 3404. e-mail:

Do I need any special equipment?
No, only writing material. A limited amount of paper is provided but you may wish to bring your own supply of file paper.

Can I bring my car?
No parking is available and we strongly recommend that you do not bring your car.

Do I get any time off?
Not a lot! For logistic reasons, this year’s course is being compressed into 4 days (from the usual 5). There are lectures and demonstrations planned all day Mon thru Thurs and these will run on into the early evening. On Monday evening, immediately after the lectures end, there is a brief get-to-know-each other social event with drinks and nibbles. On Tuesday, there will be a 'High Tea' to see you through the longest day of the course. The course dinner will take place Wednesday evening at a venue only a few minutes’ walk from City University. All social events are included in the course fee.

Is accommodation available?
No, but we can offer advice.

Should I have had any postgraduate ophthalmic experience?
No, an undergraduate medical degree is the only requirement for attendance. Some lecturers may choose to illustrate a scientific concept by reference to a clinical condition, others will make no reference whatsoever to clinical topics.

Will I receive a certificate of attendance?
Yes, these are signed by the course organisers and distributed on the final day of the course.

Any other mementos?
A free course photograph of you and your fellow participants!

Can I make special dietary requests?
Yes, for all meals including social events. Please detail these on the application form.

Is there a dress code?
No, but clothes should be worn at all times! Casual dress is the norm including the evening social events. If, at any time during the week you did wish to make "a special effort" you perhaps would consider doing so on the evening of the course dinner.

Can I check my email?
At the London course there is an internet cafe within walking distance from the venue.

What happens if I have to cancel my place on the course and I have already paid?
If you cancel up to 28 days before the start of the course, you will get a full refund.
If you cancel between 15-28 days, you will get a 50% refund.
If you cancel within 8-14 days, you will get a 25% refund.
If you cancel within 7 days, there is not refund.
